Becoming American: Philadelphia's Story restores to the historical record the enormous role Black people played in the shaping of our country's fundamental institutions both at its founding and in its crucial early decades. It is a compelling exploration of the role of race in our country's founding, and the black men and women who were Founders as well, and will be welcomed in the classroom as we attempt to tell the full story of America's founding 250 years ago.
